Pride Game nominated
Don't forget to vote for the Sydney Swans in the Australian LGBTI Awards after the Club was shortlisted as a finalist for the 2017 Pride Game.
The Swans have been nominated in the Community Initiative/Charity category which recognises organisations that have changed, or continue to change, the lives of LGBTI people.
In July, the Swans hosted St Kilda in the first Pride Game in Sydney for premiership points.
The match, which attracted a crowd of 35,773 people to the SCG, was a colourful celebration underpinned by the key theme Everyone Is Welcome.
The Pride Game was a genuine coming together of every part of the Sydney Swans community and the week leading up to the match was marked with the launch of Sydney’s Diversity Action Plan (DAP).
The first of its kind in the AFL, the DAP is a joint initiative of Sydney’s Board, staff, players and community leaders to formalise meaningful commitments in four key areas: disability empowerment, multicultural inclusion, the advancement of women, and LGBTIQ pride.
Voting is now open for the Australian LGBTI Awards. You can vote for the Sydney Swans here.
