Help support the Steve Warren Appeal
Shortly after performing at Sydney Fair Day in April 2018 & on a Sydney NZ Cruise over 5 nights, Steve suffered a debilitating stroke leaving left side weakness. This was compounded recently when Steve’s rental home burnt down, losing everything including household items, collectibles, disability and music equipment, plus his close companion dog of 13 years.
Steve is an active member of Rainbow Swans, and many of us have had the pleasure of enjoying a drink pre-game or during away games with him.
Steve is a known face in the City of Sydney for his various work in the community. In the 70’s Steve like many in the industry started off in a high school rock band. This evolved into spending a number of years doing all the bookings & stage management for Blacktown Workers Club Younger Set looking after bands from regulars Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs & Ted Mulry Gang, plus a young ACDC, Andy Gibb, Taste, Rabbit, Hush etc. This led to looking after bands at the Hordern Pavilion often through Cashmore Sounds including The Hollies, Osibisa, Queen, Status Quo, Rainbow, Tommy Bolin’s Deep Purple and Australian concerts.
Steve was a key organiser of a number of large festivals including an annual popular well attended Sydney Thai Festival for some 35 years. In 2017/18 New Year’s Eve Steve spent the night with Jimmy Barnes, JPY, Marcia Hines, Casey Donovan after Steve designed the Rainbow Fireworks as part of the NYE celebration marking the Marriage Equality Campaign & 40th Anniversary of the 78ers & founding Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. This drew media attention right around the world & was seen by millions.
Steve has given much to many in the community over the years. It would be good to try & help a mate out & give something back to assist Steve!
